About the Sparkle Appeal
The South Gwent Children’s Foundation, launched the Sparkle Appeal in November 2003, under the chairmanship of Sir Roger Jones, MBE, to raise £6million to build a new children’s centre for the 1200 children with disabilities in Newport, South Monmouthshire and South Torfaen.

Currently services for children with disabilities are scattered all over the county, and children and their families face daily difficulties accessing services in facilities which were simply not built with the disabled child in mind.

The answer is very simple – a new children’s centre is needed; a place which has been designed specifically with the needs of the disabled child and their families in mind. A place they can call their own. A place where they feel welcome, secure and cared for in the best possible environment. A place where children and their families can receive the widest possible range of treatments, therapies, support and advice – under one roof.

The project has already benefited from the gift of a 14 acre site, ensuring that the new centre will be so much more than a place where children receive treatment, therapies or see doctors. At the heart of the new centre will be places where children and their families can meet and support each other, to play, to enjoy beautiful gardens – so needed, so important – yet rarely available at the moment.

If you are able to help us in any way, you will be doing something wonderful – you will be putting a little SPARKLE into the lives of children who deserve as much support as we can give.
