Wales Council for Voluntary Action Awards

At the recent Wales Council for Voluntary Action award ceremony, Sparkle volunteer Sue Osman was awarded Wales Volunteer of the year 2016, in the adult volunteering category.

Sue started volunteering for Sparkle after retiring as a Neonatal Nurse at the Royal Gwent Hospital and since then we have benefited not just from her expertise and experience of working with families on the hospital wards, but from her warmth, generosity and kindness, that she is always willing to share. Sue works every Monday at the centre supporting the reception staff and meeting and greeting families as they come in. She also supports the Sparkle Helping Hands service, working with parents who have just received a diagnosis of a disability or developmental difficulties for their child. You will also very often see Sue assisting at the family events.

All colleagues at Serennu Children’s Centre would like to congratulate Sue on this wonderful recognition of her support, hard work and commitment as a volunteer.
