Well Done CB Training

We are absolutely delighted to announce that CB Training Services, who operate the swim instruction lessons at Sparkle, have been accredited as an ’Autism Swim Certified Swim School’. They are the first swimming provider in Wales to receive this prestigious award and we would like to offer our congratulations to Chris and his team on this fantastic achievement.

Chris Bateman is Managing Director of CB Training Services Limited and he is passionate about all children and young people having the opportunity to learn to swim. He says “Teaching swimming and water safety to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other abilities requires specialist training, procedures, resources and support. Autism Swim provides this and they are widely recognised as world leaders in drowning prevention and swimming for those with ASD/cognitive deficit. They are the only certifying body worldwide specific to ASD and aquatics and we are the first swimming provider in Wales to achieve their accreditation. We teach around 100 children with disabilities and development difficulties each week across the Gwent area to learn to swim. We offer private one to one tuition for children across various pools in South Wales however around 18 months ago we also created a great partnership with Sparkle at Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport, to ensure those living in the local area with disabilities or developmental difficulties could have access to specialist group swimming lessons”. Donna Colwill, Centre Manager at Serennu Children’s Centre, said “Serennu Children’s Centre and Sparkle are delighted with CB Training’s achievement of being the first accredited Autism Swim provider in Wales. We pride ourselves on delivering first class, holistic, integrated services to our children and young people and having a specialist swim provider who fully understands the needs of children with autism will help immensely with ensuring they achieve their potential and learn an extremely valuable life skill”.

Sparkle offer weekly swim lessons at Serennu Children’s Centre, to offer an opportunity for children and young people age 5 -17 with a disability or developmental difficulty to learn to swim. Chris and his team of instructors deliver two nationally recognised swimming programmes - the ‘Rockhopper’ and ‘ASA learn to swim pathway’.
