Matthew Rees - My Story

As all the best adventures begin, it started as a conversation in the pub. We had the idea of  the Three Peaks Challenge and before long we had 6 walkers and 2 drivers, ready to face the 1000 miles of driving
and 26 miles of walking the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales..... all in 24 hours. We all
wanted to make the challenge special, therefore it was decided that it would be for a charity. As the Serennu Centre was newly opened we wamted to help this great charity and the children of South Wales.

Starting at 6am on Sunday 4th September we began climbing Ben Nevis, as daylight broke we reached the summit. A few photos later we made our way back down to the mini bus in 5 hours, next stop Scafel Pike! Arriving at the Lake District around 4pm we kept the pace and raced up and down Scafel Pike in 3.5 hours. Now came the hard part! The drive to Snowdonia took lomger than expected and we arrived just after 1am and the weather was terrible. Great driving and navigation by Steve and Elaine got us there, now we had to face Snowdon in the dark. We quickly got our waterproofs together and started walking. As we reached the summit the weather really punished us and we peaked around 3.30am, only 2.5 hours to get back! We quickened the pace and we managed to return to the finish line at 5.39am, 21 minutes to spare!

All the boys would like to thank everyone who sponsored us!
