Twelve Intrepid Travellers!

Twelve intrepid travellers conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Sparkle Appeal.

Twelve intrepid travellers from Gwent have made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Sparkle Appeal.  Faith Husband, Ben Pritchard-Jones, Martin Gerrard, Catherine Pritchard, Leah Givvons, Ellen Gilbert, Gill Watkins, Caroline Bird, Carl Winters, Sam O'Sullivan, Paul Jones and Alison Hazeldine all made it to Uhuru Point 5,895m above sea level.  That's a 100% success rate!

These intrepid travellers were joined by 2 additional climbers Costa Costa and Paul Phillips and 2 amazing guides Jackson Laizer and Emanuel Seka.

When asked how she found the climb Faith Husband, Corporate Fundraiser for the Sparkle Appeal replied:

"It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, especially on the last night where we had to climb 1200m straight up, but all I kept thinking was one foot in front of the other and that kept me going until I hit the summit.  However, in one second all the training, the lack of washing and the 7 and a half hour climb straight up meant nothing to be stood at the top of the mountain knowing that I did it for such a good cause and that every penny I raised before undertaking the climb would go to local children with disabilities".

"This is the most amazing thing I have ever done and I can't wait for my next adventure".
