A special day of fun was held for families supported by Sparkle, the charity partner of Serennu Children's Centre in Newport.
The Serennu Summer Fete was an enclosed environment for local families who access the centre and hosted multiple different activities and games for children and young people with complex needs. The theme for the event was 'Enchanted Forest' to celebrate the centre's recently opened Woodland Walk.
The day hosted a variety of different stalls provided by organisations such as Gwent Police and Dragons Rugby. Families were welcomed to a diverse selection of games that provided accessible opportunities for play, sports and creativity.
The Summer Fete is a familiar and safe environment for the children and young people who can recognise the familiar faces of Sparkle volunteers who understand the varied additional needs of all families in attendance.
Additionally, all activities and games were accessible to all regardless of their requirements whilst providing opportunities for parents and siblings of children with complex needs to join in activities together and experience the day as a family.
Zena, a parent of a child aged 11 said...
"The fete this year is absolutely amazing, well-planned with lots to do. The increase in stalls has proved very popular with the kids who are having an absolute whale of a time... it's all brilliant. It's much better now you've kept it to just Sparkle families, instead of opening it up to the wider public which I found overwhelming last year."
Sparkle would like to thank all organisations and volunteers who attended in support of their annual Summer Fete.
